England National Finals 2007

2007 National Championship at Rutland Water

This year the Championship was held at Rutland water on 24th June. The weather for the week was very exciting, with thunder and lightning a contributing factor. At the beginning of the week, the fishing was hard and getting harder. Was it to do with the air pressure, water temperature, competition overload, and stocking? Who knows. The debates were long and interesting with lots of theories. A few ladies were out during the week and we met up to chat and socialise.  That is the nice thing about fishing; you can make friends all over the country and have a great time.  I have not fished Rutland as much as I would have liked and made it my mission to spend a week getting to know the water before the national. I was also there to organize the event; it would be my forth national getting the venue and officials together, making sure, the presentation and boatmen were arranged. However, most of all getting the event advertised and competitors to the event.  The day loomed and we had nineteen entries, not a good entry, but I looked at the names and realised it would be a tough event.

A few people gave me advice, but most of all they wished us all good luck, as we would all need it!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the loyal friends who were boatmen; we would not be able to hold this event without you.

Anglian Water and all their staff for help and encouragement.

John and his staff at The Wheatsheaf, East Perry for a wonderful meal and presentation venue.

Most of all, I would like to thank all the supporters who help England Ladies at this event.
